Trying to transfer bitcoin out of CampBX, I've been getting the error "Cold wallet maintenance in progress. Please reattempt after 5 hours," for at least 24 hours now. If I try to submit a ticket on their Kayako desk, that's also not working. "We encountered a problem (cross-site request forgery detected); please try again" If you have bitcoin on CampBX, have you kissed them goodbye at this point? Or has anyone out there actually succeeded in making a withdrawl recently? EDIT: Over the course of several months, I eventually got most of my money out of there. What a pain!
I've been trading BTC off and on for the past two years. I used CampBX because I saw someone recommend it back in the day and being based in the US somehow made it feel less shady to me than the foreign alternatives. I've had a relatively good experience trading there but last month I decided to move my trading to an exchange with better volume. So I log in (with 2FA) and click the “Move Bitcoins” link and I'm greeted with the following text:
This account is under review and your outbound Bitcoin transfers have been temporarily disabled. Bitcoins Locked.
I submit a help desk ticket and get the following response:
Dear not_happy_camper, Your CampBX account is under review by our Compliance and Security department as we were unable to see any activity in your CampBX >account from past several months. We will work with the concerned department to complete this review ASAP. One of our team will get back to you shortly with an update. Thank you, CampBX Support
I reply asking them to please explain the situation and remedy this ASAP. But they only respond with the same canned message again and again. I decided to give them one month to “unlock” my bitcoins before going public. They have not. I logged in today and noticed they have deleted all of my transaction history. Anyone have any ideas on a course of action I can take? I get the feeling I'm SOL. tl;dr: CampBX won't let me move my Bitcoins out of their exchange and deleted my transaction history.
Can't / Won't buy bitcoins because they (Gox, Dwolla, CampBX) want everything needed for full on identity theft / fraud.
I have been using bitcoins sparsely for the last few years, and I recently put money in my 2 year old Dwolla account. I went to transfer the money to Mt. Gox but they want a copy of my full bank statement, SSN, picture ID, drivers license, etc. Dwolla won't even let me move my money out now (they sure took it easy) to CampBX or to Gox unless they have full access to my Bank account, pin, Photo ID, scanned bank statement, scanned drivers license WITH PICTURE, and SSN. Same with Gox, I can't put any money in unless I give them everything in the world needed, to live as me, to use my bank, to get my bills, TO BE ME. How is anyone else not up in arms about this? Bitcoin is suppose to be anon, and it has been for the last two years, now these organizations are the only ones in the world who would even ask for this type of information and are known to be have a very sketchy user base. If any legit business in the world asked for this type of information, they would be shut down instantly.
It seems like nothing has been posted in about a month. What's r/bitcoin's take on Campbx?
I know there were phishing e-mails and last month they shut down their ACH and wire transfers; but what are the community's thoughts on the campbx exchange? Are they reliable despite the hiccups? Should I steer clear entirely? Obligatory: sorry if this is a noob question; I am admittedly a noob.
Cheaper way to get Bitcoin with cash: USPS Money Order -> CampBx
I've been using Bitinstant for a long time but the 3.99% exchange rate and the $3.95 moneygram fee kind of blows. But now you can pay cash (up to $1000) for a USPS Money Order at any post office and send it to CampBx. The total fees would be about $2 for the money order and postage + 0.55% CampBx exchange fees. The only downside would be that you have to wait a couple days for the money order to get to CampBx instead of getting it instantly. https://www.usps.com/shop/money-orders.htm I'm not sure if you need to show your ID to buy a money order but I wouldn't worry - there's nothing illegal about buying Bitcoins.
Been using campbx, I highly recommend it for any us based bitcoiners!
The volume has been steadily going up and I love their advanced trading features such as stop loss, dark pools, etc. I searched fincen and they are registered with fincen as well which is another plus.
Check out their FAQ (https://campbx.com/faq.php#bitcoin), then click on "Free Bitcoin Transfer" and you'll see this: This feature has been disabled to comply with US State and Federal regulations. What's the point of an exchange where you can't move bitcoin?
On CampBX's website they state that all non-verified accounts have a bitcoin transfer limit of 500 coins per 24 hours. While this limit makes no sense, it is not one I risk running into anytime soon. Much to my surprise, I found myself hitting the limit after sending just 2.2BTC. Upon speaking with support I discovered that they are enforcing a 2.5BTC/24hr withdrawal limit from your bitcoin wallet balance. I was attempting to move some coins to purchase a computer and this obviously threw quite a hitch in the plan. tl;dr - one more reason to not trust or do business with CampBX
